Qadri ends capital sit-in, lets workers go home

ISLAMABAD: Ending his sit-in in Islamabad after more than two months and allowing his workers to go home, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri on Tuesday announced to hold sit-ins across the country.

Speaking to his workers here, Qadri announced to hold a sit-in in Karachi on December 25. He said he would go to cities and towns across the country and hold two days of sit-ins.TV channels showed Qadri coming out of his container, with his workers and supporters raising slogans.

Qadri announced that his party would continue to pursue its revolutionary agenda come hell or high water. He said reforms would be brought either through the ballot or through a national government.


Qadri said his party wanted electoral reforms before elections and said if elections were imposed without reforms, his party would not boycott them.He announced to open a leadership development institution that would be the first of its kind. He said he would now hold sit-ins in all cities and the first one would be held in Abbottabad on Oct 23.

Dr Tahirul Qadri said his Islamabad sit-in had given the Pakistanis awareness of their rights.The PAT chief said he would hold two-day sit-ins in all the cities. He said the public gatherings in Faisalabad and Lahore had proved that the nation had risen against the rulers and the corrupt system.

He said the current corrupt system would have to go and in the next phase the Pakistan Awami Tehreek would go to every city and convince the people about the PTI’s agenda.At the end of his address, Tahirul Qadri said the first phase of their protest, which included the revolution march and sit-in, had been completed and now sit-ins would be held in various cities.
